Raffaella Buonsanti wins EuChemS Lecture Award
The European Chemical Society (EuChemS) represents national chemical societies and other chemistry-related organizations in Europe. Its aim is “to nurture a platform for scientific discussion and to provide a single, unbiased European voice on key policy issues in chemistry and related fields.”
Each year, EuChemS awards a Lecture Award to reward “the major achievements of one junior scientist working in chemistry in a country with a EuChemS Member Organisation”. Winners receive a statuette and give a lecture at the following European Chemistry Congress or at a conference of a EuChemS Professional Network.
This year, the EuChemS has given its Lecture Award to Professor Raffaella Buonsanti at EPFL’s Institute of Chemical Sciences and Engineering. Buonsanti’s group, based at EPFL Valais Wallis, focuses on the interface between materials chemistry and catalysis. Using tools from colloidal chemistry, the group synthesizes controlled and tunable nanocrystals to advance the knowledge in electrocatalytic conversion of small molecules into value-added chemicals.
