Victor Panaretos announced President-Elect of the Bernoulli Society
The Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability has announced Professor Victor Panaretos as its President-Elect for 2021-2023, and subsequently President for the period 2023-2025.
The Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability was founded in 1975 as the evolution of the pre-existing International Association for Statistics in the Physical Sciences (IASPS), founded in 1963. It is part of the International Statistical Institute (ISI), itself established in 1885 and one of the oldest scientific associations of the modern world. The Society’s objectives are to advance probability and mathematical statistics, and promote their application “to all those aspects of human endeavor which are directed towards the increase of natural knowledge and the welfare of mankind.”
Panaretos’s official conferral will take place during the 63rd ISI World Statistics Congress in July 2021. He will become the youngest ever President of the Society upon his installation.
